ASME is delighted to announce the winner of the New Leaders Award 2022. Congratulations to Hannah Chase!
The New Leaders Award is an annual prize which recognises outstanding leadership in the field of medical edcuation for those early in their medical education career. It is designed to provide recognition for those who have taken a leadership or management role in undergraduate, postgraduate or continuing professional development that has had a clear benefit and impact on improving the quality of learning, teaching or the patient experience.
Hannah, Oxford University, won with her submission: UK and International Leadership of the Planetary Health Report Card.
“It is an absolute honour to receive this award. The Planetary Health Report Card (PHRC) has been a labour of love alongside the most phenomenal team of students internationally. I have had the privilege of introducing the PHRC across the UK and co-leading the initiative internationally. It has been phenomenal to see the passion to integrate climate change and sustainable healthcare into medical education by students internationally and the PHRC provides a very practical way of starting those changes at each school. Leading such a vast project in terms of both numbers of people involved and geographically has been a completely new experience for me – gaining many new skills, knowledge and friends that constantly humble me with their talents and energy. It has been the most rewarding venture I’ve ever been involved with. The momentum is still rapidly increasing with new health professions and new countries already underway and I can’t wait to see where it goes.”
