Karen Mattick

President

Karen Mattick is Professor of Medical Education at the University of Exeter. She leads the Health Professions Education & Wellbeing group there, which provides a forum through which to develop high quality and impactful research, drawing on the expertise and enthusiasm of university staff, clinical academics, students and patient representatives.  Karen has over twenty years’ experience as a medical education researcher, with over 100 peer-reviewed research papers and external funding from a range of sources.  She is also Deputy Editor for the Medical Education journal and served as Director of Awards for ASME from 2017-2022. Karen’s academic practice has been recognized in the award of a National Teaching Fellowship in 2005, Principal Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in 2012, Honorary Fellowship of the Academy of Medical Educators in 2021 and the President’s medal from ASME in 2022.
