I am a dedicated clinical teacher with a background in General Practice, having been a GP Trainer and locality GP Tutor in West Sussex for many years. Since 2001, I have been a clinical academic at what is now Brighton & Sussex Medical School and was very much involved with its early development, although in recent years I have been more focused on Postgraduate Courses. I run successful PG Cert, Diploma and Masters’ Courses in Medical & Clinical Education, including a one year Masters Course for intercalating medical students.
I am very keen on developing younger educators and have been included in the new directory of ASME Mentors. I have also been a member of the ASME Educator Development Committee for the last 3 years. In addition, I am an Assessor (in particular a ‘Course Assessor’) for the Academy of Medical Educators.
I am honoured to have been elected to the Board by the ASME membership and am particularly keen on establishing stronger links between the different members’ ‘groups’ within ASME, including JASME & TASME. In particular, I have been appointed to work on reviewing the roles and connections of the Special Interest Groups (SIGs). Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you would like to bring anything regarding the SIGs, or anything else, to the ASME Board’s attention via your recently-elected ‘membership representative’!
