ASME are pleased to announce that Professor Sandra Nicholson has been appointed as Chair of the Association. Sandra takes over the reins from outgoing Chair Professor Jen Cleland who has loyally served ASME for 5 years.
Professor Sandra Nicholson: “As a member since 1995, I am delighted to now chair ASME’s Board of Directors. ASME is in a great position to nationally lead medical education research with outcomes which innovate and sustain the high quality of both UK and international medical education. I believe that quality and innovation are intimately linked to good quality educational outcomes. I have found ASME to be a very supportive and nurturing environment, with its members providing confidence and inspiration as well as some life-long friendships.”
Outgoing chair Professor Jen Cleland: "Reflecting on the last five years, it’s been a great privilege to work with the ASME team and the other Directors. My focus has been change, moving the organisation forward, aligning mission, aims, objectives with action. ASME now has a clear and unique niche in a crowded market, and is in good shape to go forward as an independent membership organisation. I look forward to seeing ASME continue to progress under the guidance of the new Chair and Directors."
ASME President Derek Gallen: "I am delighted to announce that the new chair of ASME is Professor Sandra Nicholson. She has been a member of ASME for many years and brings a wealth of educational research and knowledge to the role. I would also like to thank Professor Jennifer Cleland for all the work she did as our chair and leaves ASME as a robust and highly regarded organisation."
