Professor Colin Lumsden holds a chair in Medical Education at the University of Manchester Medical School. He is currently the Programme Director for Educational Development and Innovation, Divisional lead for Business Engagement and Chair of Curriculum Committee for the Manchester MBChB. In 2017 he was awarded a National Teaching Fellowship by the Higher Education Academy in recognition of his excellence and sustained contribution to teaching in higher education. He completed a Masters in Medical Education at the University of Cardiff and is an active researcher in the use of mobile technologies in UG medical education with particular reference to tablet technologies. He was co-chair of the ASME TEL special interest group until being appointed to the Board of Directors in 2019. He has held significant leadership roles in postgraduate medical education having been a Foundation Programme director and a Training Programme Director at the Northwestern Deanery School of Paediatrics. Colin is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and continues in active clinical combining his educational roles with those of a tertiary neonatologist as well as leading a regional paediatric allergy service in Preston.
