Submit your abstract

TASME Conference Abstract Guidance

Guidelines for submissions:

• Submissions may address issues of concern/development at all stages of medical and healthcare education
• The abstract should indicate the main conclusions of the paper
• The abstract should not be more than 2000 characters in length (excluding title, authors and references, but including spaces)
• Title should be no more than 90 characters
• The abstract should address four sections: (1) What problem was addressed? (2) What was tried? (3) What was learned? (4) How does this inform your education practice?
• The abstract may include a maximum of one reference. This should be listed at the end of the abstract in the AMA (American Medical Association) style
• The abstract will normally have no more than four authors
• The lead author or designated presenter should be available to present during the conference

Prizes

• The assessors will select/nominate the best abstracts for oral presentation at the TASME conference 2022
• There will also be an option to have your submission considered for the TASME Conference Poster Prize
• The assessors will consider the most innovative and educationally impactful abstracts (those eligible for the above conference prizes) to be published in The Clinical Teacher. If this is the case you will be informed and given the option to accept or decline.
• Submitted work must be your own, and the submitting author must have permission of all parties to submit to the TASME Conference
• You must submit your abstract via the online website submission process on Abstract Submission Form

Assessors will judge submitted abstracts on the following criteria:

• Originality (both in ideas delivered and lessons learned/key messages) including uniqueness of approach to innovation/scholarship
• Evidence that work was led by trainees/early career educators of any health care professional background (with appropriate support from clinical and/or academic supervisors)
• A clear and succinct description of the problem that was addressed
• A rich description of the innovation or research that was used to address / understand the problem
• Validity of the research design, choice of methodology, or educational innovation/development
• Evidence about lessons that have been learned from the work, including the lessons learned by the submitting author(s) - how will this change your educational practice?
• Suitable conclusions drawn from work
• Novelty and significance of the insights gained from the research of innovation presented.
• Applicability of results to practice
• Importance and relevance of content for a national and international audience of trainees

Submit your workshop proposal

Workshop guidance for delegates

• Identify their target audience
• Identify whether preference for online / in person
• For both in person and virtual workshop submissions - maximum number of acceptable delegates attending per session
• Detailed outline of what the workshop will involve and equipment required
• Learning outcomes should be clear, achievable and appropriate
• There should be no more than three leads running the workshop
• The workshop should promote novel or innovative learning and teaching activities relevant for trainees in healthcare
• Workshops should allow interaction and lively debate/participation by delegates
• Workshop leads should be available to present their workshop during the parallel sessions running over the course of the conference day

Workshop evaluation criteria

• Nature and content of workshop - are the content and objectives clear, appropriate for the audience?
• Completeness of planning - is the workshop well prepared, has it been clearly laid out? Do we need further information?
• Format of workshop - does it allow for learning and interaction?
