Keynote Speaker: Dr Amie Burbridge
Amie is a consultant in Acute Medicine at The University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire. She is an honorary clinical lecturer for Warwick Medical school and is the host for the RCP Medicine Podcast series. She documented her life in the pandemic on the BBC Pandemic series and is featured in the NHS Spitfire badge. She spearheaded the superherobox campaign at UHCW which provided supplies to staff working long hours fighting Covid. As well as the Superhero boxes Aime has introduced the Schwartz rounds into her hospital providing support for clinical staff to be open about how they are feeling and receive support from like-minded individuals.
 
Panellist: Mr Simon Fleming
Simon is a London-based Trauma and Orthopaedic registrar. He is a founding member and trainee representative for the International Orthopaedic Diversity Alliance (IODA), on the Executive Board for the NIHR Clinical Education Incubator and Associate Editor for Medical Education and The Clinical Teacher. Previously he was Vice-Chair of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges Trainee Doctors’ Group (ATDG) and President of the British Orthopaedic Trainees Association (BOTA). While passionate about orthopaedics, surgical education and mentoring, he has special interests in hand surgery, competency decisions and combating bullying, discrimination, harassment and the lack of diversity and equity in healthcare.
 
Panellist: Dr Enam Haque
Enam is a GP Trainer & Clinical Senior Lecturer in Manchester. He has a passion for EDI & WP. He is the founding chair of the National Medical Schools Widening Participation Forum, and the first co-lead of the MSC EDI Alliance.
 
Panellist: Dr Yvonne Mbaki
Yvonne is currently an Associate Professor in Medical Physiology at the University of Nottingham, having gained a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Bradford and an MSc (Neuroscience) and PhD (Urology Pharmacology) from University College London. In 2018, Yvonne gained recognition of Senior Fellow from the Higher Education Academy in 2018. As a teaching-focussed academic, Yvonne is primarily involved in teaching Medical Physiology across the degree programmes of Medicine, Pharmacy and Life Sciences. Yvonne has a diverse range of educational research interests including working towards improving the mental health and wellbeing of medical students, exploring the causes of the degree-awarding gap and decolonising and diversifying the curriculum.
