Online journal to benefit from Aileen Barrett’s experience in medical education and communications.

The Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME) has appointed senior medical education and communications specialist Aileen Barrett as the new editor of its leading online journal The Clinical Teacher.

With extensive experience as a medical education academic and research supervisor as well as a reviewer for medical publications, Aileen Barrett will be heading up the journal’s editorial board starting 1st December 2020.

Her expertise is founded on a PhD in medical education and further backed up by a career as a clinical physiotherapist in Ireland and Australia. 

The Clinical Teacher new editor Aileen Barrett said: “Working with the team of contributors and reviewers at The Clinical Teacher is a fantastic opportunity to combine my passions for educational research and clinical teaching.

“The journal is among the most respected in its field. My aim is to build on this legacy by attracting even more leading researchers for publication, whilst continuously working to increase our readership.”

The Clinical Teacher is aimed at clinicians who teach and people who are involved in education in  healthcare settings. The journal provides easy access to the latest research, practice and thinking in clinical education across the health professions, presented in a readable, stimulating and practical style.
