The Junior Association for the Study of Medical Education (JASME) is a special interest group within ASME for medical students. One of its key goals is to encourage, promote and conduct medical education research initiated by students. Therefore we are pleased to offer two awards each year to medical students for innovation in the field of medical education. The awards are to encourage and reward students who show imagination and enthusiasm for developing new ideas in medical teaching or education.
Innovation Prize
This £100 prize will be awarded to a student who has already undertaken a project or piece of work surrounding an original and innovative idea. Students should submit a description of their idea, what they have done with it and what the benefits are, along with any research they have carried out. The prize will be awarded for a piece of work with originality and a clear use. The work should not have been previously funded by ASME or JASME. The prize winner may apply for a grant to take the idea further (see below). The idea need not be fully researched or developed, but at a minimum the student should have done some work to indicate why it is useful. Exceptional entries will be encouraged to submit their work for presentation at an ASME conference.
All applicants must be a student member of ASME at the time of submission. Non-members can join JASME online for a small fee and experience the host of other student member benefits of ASME.
Submissions via the online submission form should be received by Friday 9th March 2012. JASME may ask for a more detailed proposal from those shortlisted.
