International Travelling Fellowships in Medical Education

Iain and Martina will be invited to present the findings of their projects to the ASM in July 2010 in Cambridge

 

Guidance Notes

Members of the Association were invited to apply for the International Travelling Fellowships. ASME identified funding of up to £700 per Fellowship to support this initiative. The aim of the Fellowship is to provide financial support to an individual member to gain further experience/training in the field of medical education by visiting an institution or research group in furtherance of their own professional and personal development.

Application

Please first download our official application form (Word .doc format) and complete it.

To apply for a Travelling Fellowship, members are asked to submit a proposal outlining what they would use the Fellowship for and how it would contribute to their professional and personal development in medical education.

  • The submission should be written in English and must not exceed 1,000 words in length.
  • The entry should be typed in a Word document file (.doc) formatted with 12pt Arial font and 2-cm margins on all sides.
  • One entry per member is permitted.
  • Entries and application forms should be sent to the ASME Administrator (details below) via email ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) or you can fill in our online application form to submit your files.

Guidelines

  • The funding for an International Travelling Fellowship contributes in part, or in whole, to the cost of one period of study/attachment
  • The costs of the proposed International Travelling Fellowship must be itemised. Funding for up to a maximum of £700 only will be considered
  • Travel for the sole purpose of attending a scientific meeting/conference will not be supported
  • Retrospective requests for Fellowships will be not considered
  • Only submissions accompanied by the the official application form will be considered. The application form must be completed, and signed as stipulated. The completed application form should be accompanied by:

  • A brief curriculum vitae (maximum of two pages)
  • A letter of support from the applicant's supervisor/Director of Education etc if appropriate
  • Confirmation of acceptance by the institution/centre(s) to be visited
  • Your proposal (not more than 1,000 words)

On completion of the period of research/training, the successful applicant must submit a written report on their Fellowship (1,500 words) to ASME Council.

Successful candidates will be expected to present their work at the Association's subsequent Annual Scientific Meeting.
