Held on the 8th to the 12th of June at the Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden, this was an exciting and innovative programme in Health Professional Educational Leadership developed between ASME and Karolinska Institutet.

The programme was aimed at individuals with leadership positions in medical and health care education in Europe. The programme was designed to address emerging leadership issues in health care education in Europe, to promote greater harmonisation and understanding of different working practices and to form a community of leadership practice in Europe. The course was ideal for individuals working in either pre or post registration programmes and for those in Universities or health care systems.  The programme was lead by faculty members from ASME, Karolinska Institutet and other participating institutions.

Programme Content

Five day residential programme comprising four modules:

• Exploration of different system and national perspectives on health care education
• Individual and organisational leadership
• Change management and organisational culture
• Scholarship and leadership in educational organisations

The programme was run in an interactive format, with a variety of teaching and learning methods used. Important emphasis was placed on the experience of the participants.

Location and cost

This joint programme between ASME and Karolinska Institutet was held in Stockholm, Sweden at the campus of Karolinska Institutet.

Cost: €2,300 (£1,850) for 5 days, excluding accommodation and travel.

Participants were asked to book their own lodging.
