Mission Statement

The EDG seeks to support and promote the personal and professional development of healthcare educators and to disseminate good practice in medical education.  To download the EDG flyer, click here

The mission will be met by the provision of:

• courses and workshops
• one-day conferences
• special sessions at the Annual Scientific Meeting
• a leadership development programme
• developing a network of educator groups
• managing, and collaborating special interest groups for ASME

Annual Elections to the Core EDG

Elections to the Core EDG occur annually. There are 12 Core EDG members.  The term of office is 3 years.

The closing date for applications each year will be 31st December.  Nominations should take the form of a 100 word manifesto detailing what individuals think they can bring to the group, to ASME as a whole & to the medical education community.  A one page CV should also be provided by applicants.

The Core EDG will vote in January and new members will take up office on 1st April.

Frequency of meetings - the EDG will meet at least four times per annum. 

The EDG hosted the "What's Hot?" pre-conference session at the 2011 ASM which received excellent feedback.  We are currently planning to run the session again prior to the 2012 ASM in Brighton.  The session will comprise of six specially selected presentations, each of 15 minutes duration.  Two presentations will be selected by the EDG panel from submitted abstracts to the ASM (submitters will be asked to state if they wish their abstracts to be considered for this session) the judging criteria can be found on the EDG section of the ASME website (www.asme.org.uk).  Two presentations will be chosen by the EDG from submissions to the "ASME Member's Choice" stating which educational papers from Medical Education or The Clinical Teacher have influenced their practice most in the last 2 years.
