Call for Papers

15th-17th July 2009 ASME Annual Scientific Meeting - Medical Education: in Pursuit of Excellence
The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, UK

Members of ASME are invited to submit abstracts of papers concerned with research and new concepts in undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical and healthcare education, for the Annual Scientific Meeting. Staff from Corporate Member institutions are also entitled to submit.

One of ASME's goals is to foster and promote high quality education research and the ASM is an important mechanism in this programme. There are two categories of presentation:

  1. Innovations or work in progress
This section is for new ideas and researchers wishing to have a forum to present their work and receive feedback. 10 minutes is allowed for presentation and 8 minutes for comment and feedback. This section will be limited both by quality standards, but also time available, and the assessment panel will award the presentation slots to those submissions of the highest quality.
  2. Posters
Poster presentations are allowed for research and innovations that have not been developed to the completeness required for oral presentation.  A poster competition will be held.

Abstracts of all accepted presentations will appear in the background papers for the meeting, and also on the ASME website.

Guidelines

Quoted references in the paper cited in the abstract should be listed at the end, and the Vancouver reference style should be followed.

A panel of assessors will judge submitted abstracts on the following criteria:

Please note that allocation of presentation slots throughout the meeting will be determined by the conference organisers and once allocated cannot be altered.  We cannot accept individual requests for specific timings due to scheduling complexities.

Author(s) of accepted abstracts must register for the meeting as delegates.

We look forward to receiving your abstract, together with the completed Submission Form by Wednesday 4th February 2009.

Please note: amendments to abstracts cannot be made after the closing date.
