ASME Annual Scientific Meeting 2009 15-17 July 2009
The ASME Annual Scientific Meeting encompasses the continuum of education, from undergraduate through postgraduate and continuing medical education. The conference included the usual excellent opportunities for delegates to discuss innovations in medical/healthcare education.
The programme included pre and intra-conference workshops; keynote presentations, in particular The Lord Cohen Lecture (given by Lorelei Lingard, Associate Professor, Department of Paediatrics, University of Toronto); parallel/concurrent sessions; posters, policy fora, the award of the Sir John Ellis Student Prize and the Richard Farrow Gold Medal.
This conference is a forum for all medical/healthcare educators with undergraduate, postgraduate or CPD responsibilities and interests. Welcome Reception
Wednesday 15 July The Hub, High Street, Edinburgh
The Hub, Edinburgh's Iconic landmark, towers over the heart of the world's leading festival city, gloriously dominating the skyline on the Royal Mile between Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood. The Hub's interior pulsates with colour, light and creative ideas as befits the home of the Edinburgh International Festival. Since 1999 the Hub has developed and established a reputation for quality, service and outstanding Scottish cuisine which, like The Hub itself, blends the modern with tradition to spectacular effect.
Light refreshments and a hot fork buffet were provided. Entertainment was in the form of a Ceilidh.
Annual Dinner
Thursday 16 July, The Royal College of Surgeons, Nicolson Street, Edinburgh.
In 1505, the incorporation of the Barber-Surgeons of Edinburgh came into being with the granting of its Seal of Cause by the Town Council of Edinburgh. Since then, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh has been dedicated to the maintenance and promotion of the highest standards of surgical practice, through its keen interest in education, training and rigorous examination and through its liaison with external medical bodies.
